Post doesn’t show up under Category

I made a test post called Poetry and put it in the Poetry Category. When I click on Poetry under the Categories heading, nothing shows up but an archive. I can only see the post when I look under Recent Posts. Is this a design flaw? I have another blog on WordPress and it doesn’t have this problem. Thanks for any help!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see a post called “poetry” with four identical lines. Clear your browser cache and force reload the page.

Yes, that is my test post, I just pasted the line four times. At the bottom of the post says it is posted under the Poetry Category, but if you click there (Category -> Poetry) it doesn’t show up.

I think it is a flaw with the theme I picked. I changed the theme and now I can find the post in the correct category.

I saw it just fine with the theme you were using. By changing themes, you inadvertently forced a reload of the page. There is nothing wrong with the other theme.

New blogs, by the way, are excluded from the global tag and category pages for a certain length of time, to ensure they’re real bloggers and not jsut posting filler. Since that line was, in fact, filler, it’s no surprise it didn’t get included.

Can’t get my categories activated. Under categories I have “pending”. How get them “approved” and visible?

We have no idea and can’t begin to guess without a link to the blog, starting with http. Also, how new is the blog? see my post right above yours.

Categories will not show up in the categories widget until they have been assigned to at least one published post.

Thank you sacred path, that fixed it! My mistake was to not realize I had to post simultaneous with getting the category established. This blog is brand new and I’m stumbling but loving it.
