Post Excerpt in the WordPress Reader

    Is there a way to post an excerpt to the WordPress reader? I am using the Suburbia theme, which supports excerpts. Upon publication, the excerpt appears on my home screen, my facebook page, and my twitter feed. The only place the excerpt does not appear is in the WordPress Reader. Instead, the Reader shows the beginning of my post. I have checked Google, the FAQ, and every setting that I can think of, all to no avail. The answer is probably right under my nose. Thanks for the help!
