post excerpt length

I am using the Sunspot theme, and want to limit the amount of words for posts before Read the Rest…
I edited tweaks.php to change the word length:
/**
* Sets the post excerpt length to 55 words.
*
*/
function sunspot_excerpt_length( $length ) {
return 25;
}but it did not change anything.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the right WordPress forum to help with that problem. It sounds like you have a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software, but this forum is for blogs hosted here on WordPress.com. The two versions are different and have separate forums.
