Post format auto change

Why does WordPress keep changing my post format? I always want to post in the Standard format, but sometimes it’s only one image – and I do not want the Image format. When I’m not looking, WordPress sneakily changes it to Image format. Please stop doing it, it’s really irritating to change it back every time.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

When you publish a post on your blog that only has one image, WordPress.com automatically changes the post format to image. This is mainly to make sure that your post displays in the best format possible both at WordPress.com and on social media networks. Currently, this can’t be changed through the Dashboard. Can you explain a bit about what you don’t like about the image format?

    Hi Jeremey,
I know WP has the best intentions at heart, but unfortunately it never works for me, for the following reasons:
In the theme I use (Manifest) (a) Image post formats do not display the post title on the home page and (b) When I have only one image, in the post page, the image is repeated below as if I had a sequence not a single image.
If you look at my blog you’ll see it’s not like every other photo/image blog so the standards don’t work for me. I’d really just like to leave it with the Standard format. Are you saying that I’ll have to keep fixing it again and again as I mentioned earlier?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Please see my answers below:

Image post formats do not display the post title on the home page

Correct – The post title for image post types is actually removed at the HTML level, so it isn’t even possible to make it display with CSS.

When I have only one image, in the post page, the image is repeated below as if I had a sequence not a single image.

Can you point me to a post where this is happening? I activated the theme on a test blog and uploaded a few posts consisting of images only, but I didn’t see the repeated image.

Are you saying that I’ll have to keep fixing it again and again as I mentioned earlier?

Yes – with the Manifest theme, you will need to manually change the post type back to Standard after publishing the image. The post type will automatically switch to image after initially being published.
