post got deleted while only changing the featured image

    Hello,

    I changed the featured image for an old post and then saved. Now the featured image is changed, as i wished, but all the post text is gone.

    When I first clicked on edit (old post) , the system asked a strange question: something like “there is a more recent version of your post, do you want to work on the more recent version?” I said yes.

    I am 100% sure no recent version of this post could have been an empty text version.

    System often asks me same question, while working on the new wordpress admin system (i usually work on the old WP admin); and i usually discard the offer of working on a newer version of my posts.

    Could there be any cause – effect link between these 2 factors (old posts edited on new wordpress admin–> implying a more recent version of posts issue without any apparent reason for that) and then the deleting my post today??

    Is there anyway for me to get my post back as It last was? This text had been updated few days/ weeks ago, and I really preferred the updated version.

    I don’t have my texts saved on word. I write straight on dashboard.

    Fortunately, prior to all this happening, earlier today I exported my entire blog content (within “tools” option) in XML.

    Unfortunately, after I imported all the content of my blog, into another wordpress testing blog that I use, so that I could get a copy of the latest version of this deleted post –> instead of getting a copy of the post , I am being linked from the second blog to the content of the first blog post (which is now empty)…! Any idea?

    Hi there,

    There is a bug with the autosave that does this, but we haven’t yet been able to figure out what’s causing it. The good news is your content is not lost.

    Edit the post, then click the gear-icon and click on Revisions. This will take you to the revisions module in the WP-Admin editor where you can restore an earlier version of your post. Here is a direct link:

    Thank you also for mentioning the “more recent version” message in the editor. No one who has reported the issue thus far mentioned that detail, and hopefully it’s relevant to helping us figure out what’s happening here.
