Post has disappeared
-
I was looking for an old post to see what photo I used and the post is gone. I have some early saved draft. It not the final. Makes no sense! I even have the 22 comments that readers made. I never deleted the post.
I don’t want to re-publish as in send to my readers again.
Anyway to rectify this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
The post was called:
25 ways to say I love you without saying a word. Posted September 27 2814.The last comment was made in January so I know it was still there then. It was an extremely popular post picked up by the Huffington Post and several other bloggers reblogged. How can a post just disappear?
Thanks for your help.

Do you happen to also control the WordPress.com user account that owns this site:
This might be why you can’t find the post under speakingofmarriage.com.
If I’ve misunderstood the issue, or if you have any other questions, please let me know.

OK. I can’t find any sign of that post on speakingofmarriage.com and I don’t see any recent post deletions for your site.
Also, I don’t see any links to the post in Google’s index.
Do you happen to have the URL for the missing post, perhaps from outside sites that linked to it?
Also, can you provide URLs for the comments you previously mentioned?
-
Okay here’s the URL from my Twitter account:
http://wp.me/p3KCCM-SR
Goes to a dead end. Will send what I can re comments.

Not sure how to get a URL for comments. Especially since the comments are disconnected from the post. I can send a screen shot for some of the comments if you give me an email.

Hi Winifred,
Thanks for sharing those details. That shortlink URL from your Twitter account matches the draft post on your blog, which means that’s the post that was published. You can republish that draft and it won’t be resent to your followers (since it was already published before and posts are only sent out the first time you publish them).
You can also view all the revisions for that post, if the draft you see in the editor right now isn’t the final draft:
https://speakingofmarriage.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=3894
Please let us know if we can do anything more to help with that. :)

Thank you. The last question is can I republish it at its original date? I don’t want it to appear as my most recent post.
Is there any explanation for how this happened?
Again I appreciate your help with this. :-)

Hi Winifred,
You certainly can republish it at its original date. In the post editor, you can view and change the post’s publish date before publishing it again. Whatever date you choose there will be the post’s publish date (so you can backdate it).
Is there any explanation for how this happened?
Generally, published posts only become drafts if you edit the post and set it back to a draft status. We don’t keep records of changes like that on posts, so I can’t confirm exactly how or when that happened on this post. It’s also possible it was a glitch, but at this point I don’t have any evidence to determine that one way or the other. I’m sorry I don’t have more details for you!
If this happens again with another post, do let us know and we can take another look.
