Post has incorrect posting date.

Good day, I published a blog post today called ‘Why I Love to Photograph Weddings’, and for some reason, the published date is showing mid last year, however, I only just published it this morning. It now does not fall at the top of my blog list as a recent post. How do I correct the published date for this post so that is reflects being published today?
Thanks.

Did you create a draft last year and not confirm the datestamp before publishing it today?
The default timezone is UTC time. Provided you are logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog, you can reset your timezone here > Settings > General. Select the closest city to you in the same timezone in the drop-down menu you see there and then click “save changes”.

You can edit the posts and change the datestamp and timestamp and click update. These images may be helpful:

This is not related to your issue but Choco is an older retired theme. Retired themes do not support all wordpress.COM features, therefore, the recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set-up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:
