Post isn't sharing correctly
-
I just posted, http://sunnyhuckle.com/2014/10/12/the-high-life/, and am having two very big issues:
1. The e-mail that usually autosends to subscribers did not go out.
2. When I try to share the post on Facebook, the post image and excerpt will not auto-populate my Facebook post. Please help!
Shelley
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll respond to 2. first.
Please read these tips http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize
We have no control over the images that Facebook or any other social network chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.
For Facebook please see http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
and https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/fb-link-has-no-thumbnails?replies=4#post-936861See here too https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/pachyderm-theme-image-size-on-reader?replies=9#post-1349306
See this thread for more tips please > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wp-post-wont-publish-images-to-fb-but-was-previously?replies=8
Now I’ll respond to 1.
I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide a couple of usernames for those WordPress.com bloggers who did not receive the emails as well as a couple of email addresses for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts? The software will redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
To subscribe:
1. Look in the sidebar of this thread and find the subscribe to topics link.
2. Look below the comment box:

Thank you for the feedback.
Disappointing about answer to question 2…as this post was one I was counting on to build my site shares…and now it’s limping along without any Facebook shares from the site itself (while all other posts seem to share just fine).
As for usernames and e-mail addresses:
WordPress blogger: shellbertann, sunnyhuckle
E-mail addresses: (email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff)
I appreciate the help.

Howdy @sunnyhucklemagazine,
Regarding the subscription issue, the user sunnyhuckle is not subscribed to the blog sunnyhuckle.com. However, it looks like the last email went to the user “shellbertann” on 10/8/14. All of the email addresses you provided also received an email update on 10/8/14. Can you let me know how you published the post “The High Life” shown here?
Was that post published on your blog previously and then republished at a later date?
As Timethief mentioned regarding #2, making sure Facebook shares the correct image is a bit tough. Setting a featured image that is at least 300×300 is the best way to try to push Facebook to a certain image. Regarding the content, Facebook will pull the first few sentences of your content to display alongside your post.

Jeremey…thanks. Talked to at three of my subscribers (plus noted myself, shellbertann) that no one received e-mail update about post….actually had folks contact me to ask why they didn’t receive an e-mail.
I scheduled the post in question to post, as I have for previous posts. Nothing different. It had never previously posted.
About Facebook…good to know about size…though I’ve never had issue before with featured images and pulling content. What Facebook did this time was pull generic “about” language for the entire site and used an image in text widget from home page (which IS something new…before I had a different widget that pulled from media gallery instead of using html to pull the image). Perhaps that could be issue?
Hopefully it was all a fluke. I’m scheduled to post another big story tomorrow and am hoping all will go smoothly.

That is normal behavior when Facebook can’t find a suitable image for a particular post. It will try to pull an image from somewhere (sidebar or elsewhere). The featured image setting should work to prompt Facebook to pick the correct image moving forward.

I hope so too! Please keep me posted.

Jeremy…something has to be up with how my sight is being read by Facebook. The post I previously mentioned in this thread all of a sudden last night (days after being posted) had corrected so that it populated to Facebook when clicking the sharing button. And the post after that one worked fine with posting to Facebook. So, I thought all was working again. But the post I made this morning is not populating to Facebook: http://sunnyhuckle.com/2014/10/19/my_favorite_cup_of_coffee/
Something has to be wrong.

Nevermind…I used the debugger and got it to work.

Thanks for everyone’s help!

Hi Shelley!
Great – so, just to reiterate, your posts are now sharing correctly. Is that right?
-
Hey, Jeremey…yes…seems so. I appreciate y’all’s help.
I hope this thread will stay up, in case I need to reference the links in the future. The debugger link seemed to do the trick for the FB issues.
-
This thread will indeed continue to stay up. Please let us know if you run into any additional trouble!
