  I remember blogspot had by default a post list on the right side, see – http://cicardia.blogspot.pt/
  You could have it as a dropdown or as a simple clickable list. What alternatives do you have? The “archives” is useless if the user doesn’t know what was published.

  Also note that you can create a Page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ and use the display posts shortcode on it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/

  Hi, yes I’m aware of the recent posts widget. I’m looking for something more like a blog index. That widget does not correspond to what I’m looking for at all.

  The “display posts shortcode” looks interesting. But I’m not looking for a page, I was looking for a sidebar widget with this. People could use it to navigate through the blog.

  I can’t believe old blogspot had this and wordpress doesn’t. :S
