Post margins issue
-
I compose my posts on an iPad (9th Gen running 26.2) via the Safari browser. The most recent update seems to have eliminated the slim margin used in the posting field.
For example when entering text into this comment field there is a margin either side between the text and the text bounds box. After the most recent update, when I type into the post field, the text is hard up against bounds box which meets the screen edge on the left, and against the post/block menu on the right. It makes it very awkward to insert a cursor or select text near either edge.
I hope it’s just an oversight and the issue can be raised with the coders for a simple fix. Thanks!

Hi there!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Are you experiencing this on just the iPad or across other devices, like a desktop computer, for example? -

Hi there,
A few quick questions to help narrow this down:- When did you first notice this change? (approximately)
- Does this happen on all posts/pages, or just certain ones?
- If you switch to a different theme temporarily (even just for testing), does the issue persist?
Since you’re using Safari on iPad, you could try using the WordPress app for iOS instead of the browser. The native app has its own editor that may not have this issue.
Screenshots showing the problem would also be very helpful if you’re able to add them! Please let us know how this goes.

- It appeared last week – the same time that the calendar markings were finally restored
- It’s the same on all posts and pages
- Please don’t make me switch themes again, being forced to do it after 13 years with the same one was traumatic enough, if it’s theme related I’ll just live with it.
The app does not have the issue, it has huge margins, but I prefer to use Safari for a few reasons.
The issue is more evident in the photo of my iPad screen also below. You can see how the text is hard against the left edge.
it’s harder to see that in the screenshot because this text block has the white margins.
Thanks for continuing to investigate

Hi there!
Thank you for sharing!
I reviewed this on my end and it appears that it depends on the active theme. To be more precise, it appears that only the classic themes are affected by this. With this in mind, I forwarded this bug to our team to be looked into and until then, if you don’t want to switch the themes, I completely understand, you could turn off the theme styles from the editor settings Preferences section, like so:

That’ll bring back some of that side padding, but will remove the actual fonts and formatting coming from the theme.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!
