Post missing from WordPress search
-
My latest blog post has very few views compared to my others. After a few tries on the search bar in WordPress I realised my latest post will not come up at all. Even if I search for my own blog title nothing comes up. Could this be why I have no views? Or is it another issue?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there
Yes, if you are unable to find your own post, no one else will be able to either!
The obvious things to check:
Is the post still a draft?
Did you change it’s visibility?
Did you schedule it for publication later?dave

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. However my post was published 16 hours ago and the visibility is set to public. Is there any other reason it would not appear?

Hello @hayleymitch2206,
I would like to add-in to @dave2swords answer.
Please make sure that your post is actually published as a post, and not as a page.Read more about the difference between a page and a post here:

It is a post as it appears on my actual blog at the top like my other posts, however it does not appear when searching for it. I’m not sure if I have done something different as I scheduled this post instead of publishing straight away like normal.

Ok
You changed the way you did it and something changed – makes sense. First thing i would check is when was the post scheduled to publish? If it has already happened, try reverting it to draft, then publish (not schedule) it again.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/schedule-a-post/#un-scheduling-a-post describes how to do this.If it is not scheduled to publish yet you can change the date/time it is supposed to publish, or do as suggested above.
Let us know if it works

The post is already published so I tried reverting it and republishing but it still doesn’t appear in the reader. My other posts do show up so this is very annoying. I appreciate all your help though!

Hello again Hayley
I am guessing it is the 10 reasons to visit Vietnam post (lovely). If you gave it the same categories and tags, it should show up.Out of curiosity, how long does it usually take for a post to make it to the reader? I am asking because i have noticed reports of other functions appearing to have slowed in the last day and wonder if this might be related.
I am also tagging this so the WordPress folks can take a look with their all seeing eyes for anything that may be causing this.

Yes it is and thank you very much 😊 to be perfectly honest I am not sure but I would have thought it would be up by now? If it is a problem other people are experiencing then at least I am not alone I suppose. Thank you for tagging them, hopefully there is a solution!

Howdy –
Thank you for the tag, dave2swords :)
Are either of you seeing the post in Reader yet? I am able to see it when I search. You’ll see it at the bottom of the screen here: https://cloudup.com/cLNduDWiB7l

I can only see it if I search for my name, not the blog title in any form. Surely this is an issue as it is unlikely anyone would search for my name, rather they would search for similar topics and titles?

Hi again,
I just wanted to let you know that our developers are looking into why your posts aren’t appearing. I’ll give you an update when I have more information.
Speak to you soon.
