Post not in Reader AGAIN!

My latest post is not in the Reader again. It was posted over 2 hours ago. The post is ‘The Winter River Painting’. This is happening quite regularly now. The last time it happened I edited and re-published to make the post appear in the Reader, but I have not done that this time as I think the post is supposed to appear in the Reader the first time I publish it, and I shouldn’t have to edit and re-publish. Cheers for any help.

Hi, I checked for the post URL in our system, and it is there. Are you subscribed to your site? It can take a bit of time for a post to show up on a general search, but if you are subscribed to the site, it will be almost immediate. On a general search, it did not come up, but once I subscribed to your site it showed up immediately for me.
If you can let me know on the above, I can look into this further.

Yes, I am subscribed to my site. It’s still not there for me though. The top post in the Reader that I can see is ‘Autumn At The Stream’.

I have added two screen shots to my library to show what I am seeing. The first is ‘reader1’ and it shows the top of the reader and posts for someone I am subscribed to, and ‘reader2’ shows lower down where my posts start, and the first of my posts that I can see is ‘Autumn At The Stream’ which is not the newest one, that was published on the 18th, and it’s now 20th. The newest which was published on the 19th should be ‘The Winter River Painting’, but as I’ve said, I cannot see it in the Reader. Thank you.

Once again I have resolved this myself for now. I have added two new posts, and that seems to have worked as I can see the new posts in the Reader, plus the missing post. I would still like to know why this keeps happening though as this is the 4th time a post has not appeared in the Reader and will only appear when I re-publish it, or publish another post. Thank you.

I’m glad to hear you were able to get this sorted.
If there is a next time I would try clearing your browser cache as a first step, and then signing back in to your WordPress.com account. I’m going to leave this thread open just in case you need us again.

Ok. Thank you. I did clear browser, cookies etc though as I have gotten used to this happening now.

Here we go yet again, only 24 hours later and the same problem. The latest post (The Winter Lions) is not in the Reader and it’s been over an hour. I have logged out, cleared browser etc, and logged back in and still can’t see it. It’s also not appearing when I view it on my ipad.

Thanks for writing back to let us know. I’ve looked pretty extensively through Reader and can’t find The Winter Lions post at all.
I’m going to ask our Reader team for help. Once I hear back I’ll be in touch (it might be a few days).

Thank you. It’s still not in the Reader today, and this is what happens until I post something else, and then it will appear. I won’t post anything today so that they can check what the actual problem is. Cheers.

I just updated a post and this missing post has now just appeared in the Reader. This is what happens, a post won’t go in the Reader until I edit it, or publish something else. I had to do this as I have not updated all day and I have things to add on my blog. Hopefully they will still be able to find the problem. thanks again.

I should point out that it’s not every post. I just published a post and it appeared straight away in the Reader, but it’s every few posts, so perhaps the third post I add will not appear until I edit it, or until I next add another post. It’s as if the post gets stuck and needs a nudge! Thanks for persevering with this. Much appreciated.

Just a quick update. Another post has failed yet again to appear in the Reader. It is ‘Arizona Abstract’. I look forward to a solution to this problem as it’s starting to drive me mad now. Cheers.

Is anyone actually doing anything about this? Or am I wasting my time? Four days now and the post is still not in the Reader.

Can you try adding a test post again? The team made some changes with how your tags were getting indexed.
