Post page customisation
-
Hi,
I’ve recently created a wordpress.com free site, and i’m trying to customise the tab where my posts appear (not the home tab). All the posts are currently displayed in vertical sequence, but each post is displayed in full. Instead, i want only a list of the titles of posts, and clicking on each would take the reader to a new page with just that post.
How can I achieve this?
Many thanks,

Hello Sam,
Is this on https://samuelrobertelliot.wordpress.com/?
Your theme doesn’t support automatic excerpts on the blog page, but you can do this manually by adding the more-block inside each post.
I wouldn’t recommend showing just the post titles, though – have the post title and one or two sentences as a teaser, and then insert that block. Then it will display as a Continue Reading link on the posts page.

Hi,
Thanks for your help, that is indeed the right site.
I’ve fixed the post excerpt issue, but now i’m having trouble with pinning posts. If i go to a post>edit>status&visibility, the menu gives me the option to “Stick to the top of the blog”. But if i click this box, nothing on my home page changes… And if i edit a post which IS pinned, this box is unchecked…How do i fix this and pin the posts i want to my homepage?
It might have to do with static page settings, i’m using a static homepage and i recall a setting i found somewhere to pick and choose from a list which posts i wanted displayed. But i can’t remember where i found that setting… Any ideas? Thanks again,

Hi Sam, I’ve found the issue: this posts block wasn’t actually designed to show sticky posts like that. It does have a setting that will let you display certain posts if you’d like, though, so that would effectively work like a sticky post.
You could even put one block above another, with certain posts in the first one, and the latests posts in the one after that.
Anyway, there is an open issue on this where folks are discussing the need for sticky support, so I’ve noted your request there, too.
Hoping this helps!
