Post page not displaying right on Android 13
-
Hi.
I asked a friend to look at my test pages.
We found an issue on the Post Page.
In two spots.
1) Above the header, there is a quote: The Best is Yet to come
2) at the bottom of the header is ‘@EyeOfTheWolfe’
Both have the same issue.
On my Windows device, those two spots the font display the same size as all the other pages, which is correct.
On my friends tablet, those two spots the font display larger than the other pages.
I tried modifying, and no change.
It was looked at on a smartphone as well, and it looked correct on the smartphone. The tablet seems to have an issue.
The Tablet is windows 11.
The smartphone is using Android 12.
The tablet is updated to Android 13.
They tried clearing all the cache on the tablet and restarting, no change in the font size difference. What’s weird is I tried a type change in the same field, putting quotes around the text at the top. Their display updated to show the quotes at the top, but never resized the fonts in those two locations.
This only happens on the Post Page / Single page, only in those two spots (that was noticed so far), only for size of font, and only on Android 13 device.
There was another issue with other font in different spot not displaying correctly in Android 13, but that seems to have updated since and fixed.
Any help?

In short, the formatting of the text font in those two places (the quote above the header pic, and just below the header pic “@EyeOfTheWolfe”) should look the same on all pages, including the Post pages.
On Windows 11 and Android 12, this is true.
On Android 13, this is false. On the Post pages, the font format in those two spots is different from the other pages.
Thank you very much for any assistance.
Have a great day.
-
PS. I tried making a new post to see if that would have any effect.
It did not.
The post pages still look different above and below the header pic on Android 13.
Not able to get a screenshot.
Any help here?

Update: My friend with Android 13 said they tried to refresh the page, the new Layout test 4, a few minutes ago. The first time they refreshed, the text above the header pic “The Best is Yet to Come” showed up smaller, the way it was supposed to. The other text, “@EyeOfTheWolfe” did not change though.
So they refreshed the page again, and it went back to all being shown too big.
Not sure if that helps or not. Seemed very odd.
Thank you very much for any help…?

Another update.
I’m told that when they refresh the page on any post in a second browser, ALL the text changes size, except for the bold right under the pic (the site title without the “@”).
They have tried 2 different browsers.
The pic size stays the same that they have seen.
It does sound like an Android 13 compatibility problem.
Any updates/feedback/etc on this please?
Thank you very much. Have a great day.

Hey there!
Looks like it did, but I’ve just taken a look at this thread and thank you for keeping it updated.
So where we’re at currently is that the text seen below “Eye of the Wolf” does not appear bold on Android 13, on a tablet? (Apologies if that’s going over old ground, I just want to make sure I understand the problem.)
Are you able to able provide a screenshot? You should be able to upload a screenshot into an image block as part of a reply to this thread.
Also, it’s possible to upload an image to your media library and we’ll be able to see it.
Many thanks.

Thank you for the reply, @aleone89.
I’m not able to get a screenshot from the Android 13 device.
Are you able to post a screenshot of what you see for any of the posted pages, ie: Layout Test 2? They are all Test posts. If that would be ok, when you do look at any of the post pages, could you try refreshing your screen multiple times while looking at it and see if it changes?
That is what my friend sees on one browser (samsung), but on google browser the headers they are mostly out of format but may appear correctly once or twice (hence the request for several page refreshes, to try and replicate the issue).
Thank you very much for the reply and assistance. I really appreciate it.
Have a great day.

Hi! Here’s what I see; both are 18px fonts.

on google browser the headers they are mostly out of format but may appear correctly once or twice
I’m using Chrome, for what that’s worth.

Thank you for posting that pic, @supernovia .
If you look at the difference of the font sizes between those two pics, compare “Home Sweet Home” vs “The Best is Yet To Come”, they are supposed to be the same size. They are on other devices, just not on Android 13.
Same with the text under the site title, the “@EyeOfTheWolfe” with the @ infront of it. The font is changed. It’s supposed to be the same.
The text size on the rest of the page may have changed too.
On other devices, they stay the same. Both pages match the “Home Sweet Home” page font.
On Android 13 they do not.
Now that we have pics, and I am very grateful for the help with those, does that help demonstrate the issue?
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
Have a great day.

PS. What I see in the second pic supports exactly what my friend was saying they see on their Android 13.
I’m guessing this confirms it’s an Android 13 compatibility issue, not just a single device?
Thank you very kindly. Have a great day.

We were able to get a colleague with Android 13 to take a look.
“The Best is Yet To Come” and “@EyeoftheWolf” are the same sizes. To be frank, even if they were slightly different, as long as they’re both clear and look nice, I’d probably let it go; browsers gonna browse.
But Home Sweet Home is a different font, so it looks different when you change pages. And font differences could potentially be accentuated by how his particular device renders them. Maybe using the same font for that top line on the home page and inside pages will help clear up any dissonance he’s seeing on his tablet?

Thank you very sincerely for the reply.
They weren’t supposed to be different font, so I went back and made sure.
Focusing on the Home page template and the Single page templates, I ensured the first text block we’re addressing, “Home Sweet…” vs “The Best…” is a paragraph block, font: figtree, size; 30, line ht: 1.5 on both.
I made sure the second block of text, “(@EyeOfTheWolfe)” is paragraph block, font: Albert Sans, size: 25, line ht: 1.5 on both templates.
That second block, “(@EyeOfTheWolfe)” is part of the header and should be the same on all pages regardless, yet it isn’t.
After ensuring same fonts as noted above, my friend said they see no change on the display issue on the Android 13.
Could someone kindly let me know definitively…..
Am I missing something, setting or such, that is causing this, or is this an Android 13 issue?
I would really like to move on. The info I need is if it’s something I missed that’s causing the difference, I would like to know what so I can fix it please.
Is it likely an issue with my friends device? But if that’s true, then why is the screenshot posted above showing exactly the same issue?
If it’s an Android 13 compatibility issue, I would just like to know that it has been seen by the staff and will be rectified at some point.
Thank you very kindly. Have a great day!

Hi! Now I see it. The text above the wolf is 30px on the home page, and 20px on the “Single” template. It’s also italicized on the single template.
Want to edit the templates to match?
-
Thank you, @supernovia .
I tried several times more to edit both templates to match.
I asked my friend to look again.
They said no change on Android 13, and that all the font on the post page is altered and larger, except the site and post titles.
The pages look fine on windows 11 and Android 12 though.
Is there something else I missed?
Is it a bug that will be addressed in the future?
Thank you very kindly. I do appreciate the assistance.
Have a great day.

Hi,
Is there something else I missed?
Is it a bug that will be addressed in the future?
I have confirmed the font sizes between the Single and Home templates are the same now, and they weren’t before, so I suspect the problem is now resolved. We’re asking our colleague who has an android 13 tablet to take a look. If your friend can get screenshots, that would likely help, too.
Oh! One other thought did just occur to me: since this is on a tablet, is there any chance your friend using “wide” orientation when viewing the front page (because it has 3 columns) then rotating the tablet for the inner pages? That could affect the font size very slightly, since it’s scaled a little based on screen width.
-
Hi. Thank you for the reply.
I’m not able to get screenshots, however the ones provided above match exactly what I’m told they are seeing.
They said they are not rotating the tablet, and the issue is not the home page view, it is when you go to read the post. It’s the actual post page where the fonts get altered.
So If you look at home page, and contacts, and archives, they are consistent in fonts where they are supposed to be.
When you move to read the actual post, as see in the screenshot above that starts “The best is yet to come”, those post pages have altered fonts.
When I was working on the pages, there were times I would switch to code editor. Is it possible I changed something on the code for the Single template that is altering the fonts that would only be seen in the android 13 tablet like that, something I’m not seeing, perhaps a line of code or a value that my novice eyes can’t distinguish?
Is your colleague able to replicate and see the altered fonts when going from home page to reading one of the test posts? I’m told the fonts also increase in size in the text below where I typed misc stuff for testing.
Thank you very much for assisting in figuring this out. I appreciate it.
-
We had confirmed previously that the fonts were different. Since you updated that on March 3, we confirmed again with the person who has Android 13, and they are seeing the same font on both pages.

-
Or, at least the Home Sweet Home and The Best Is Yet To Come fonts. The other fonts below that are different; you can unify those between your templates if you’d like.
-
Thank you very much for those screenshots. I’m still working on getting one from my end. The person over here who has it says they are still experiencing the same issues on two different browsers on the same device. But looking at the screenshot above, that looks like an Android phone whereas my friend has an Android tablet… perhaps that matters?
I’m thinking I did something with the template by accident, possibly removed one of the preset lines (ie: “constrained”) or such. I do recall not being able to “undo” a couple of changes.
Is there a way to start a new blog using the original template without messing up what I’ve already accomplished so I can look at the codes on the original “single” page and compare it to the current one?
Thank you very kindly. I appreciate the help very much.
