Post-paragraphs ends up as comments in other posts I write
-
Like the title says, when I write a new post, a small part of this post ends up as a comment in other posts I write, and the title ends up as the author of the comment?
Why is this?
You can see what I mean here:
http://webartikler.wordpress.com/2007/11/25/delmal-mal-og-malsetnings-manedene-har-begynt/Check the response-section at the bottom of the post, and you will se that one of my other posts actually have commented with a part of it’s content.. lol.
PS. My blog is in Norwegian, so don’t expect to understand what I’ve written.

i haven’t had a look at the link, but what i think you’re describing is a trackback / pingback.

perhaps this thread can help you understand better https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=9935&page&replies=11#post-72783

Hmm.. read a little about trackbacking.
Is this trackbacking:
Putting url’s for my own blogposts in other people blogs, to tell readers that I have a
similar blogpost about the subject? Is trackbacking a way of driving traffic to blogs?
But why would I “trackback” a post I have in another post I have?
-
If you reference a post you have already written (with a link to it in a post) then you will get a trackback in your old post. The same for other blogs as well. If you leave a comment in another blog with a link to a post you have on a similar post in your blog, that post, in your blog, will get a trackback. If someone mentions one of your posts in a post they are writing (with a link to your post) you will get a trackback.

Putting url's for my own blogposts in other people blogs, to tell readers that I have a similar blogpost about the subject?yes that’s a trackback. you might get a few hits from trackbacks but it won’t drive that much traffic…
But why would I "trackback" a post I have in another post I have?reference for your readers? you can delete trackbacks/pingbacks to yourself if you find that annoying…
-
I find trackbacks useful for readers since it points them to another post I may have on a particular subject, when they are reading the comments.
-
Mark told me about this as well. :)
However, I do think it is like not very neat if we do trackbacks and they keep appearing as comments…Maybe we can have a setting to choose if it appears as comments or not? How leh?

@scopettg
That already exists. You can stop trackbacks by going to options > discussion and deselecting the “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)” and “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)” and then clicking “update options. -

Hi Sacred…
But will that be sacrifice in terms of other aspects. I mean if I deselect them, will I miss anything?
To be very honest… I don’t really understand what about ‘notify any blogs linked to from the article’.Is it like Vivian said, that we can just delete the comment happening because of the trackback???
Sorry, kinda busybody here. Basically, after Mark explained, I just kinda leave thing as it is.

So this thread is about pingbacks/trackbacks and how they appear as comments.
Well, that is theme dependant. For example some themes show them up as being different:
For example: http://carocat.co.uk/2007/11/24/mass-effect-first-impressions/#comment-20007
Basically a pingback is just you referencing another post that you have previously done or linking to someone elses post that is relevant to the post you’re writing.
A trackback as far as I understand it is pretty mcuh the same.
You can stop pings from within your own blog:
And some other FAQ reading:

Thanks to all of you!
Your help is very much appreciated!I now roughly understand the use of trackbacks! (And can say “I’ve almost learned something new today!) :)
Somehow, I can’t stop thinking about the likeness trackbacks have to RSS feeds, pinging, blogcarnivals and blogcatalogs, which all do almost the same thing: Making your blog more visible for the people who share your interests/bloggingsubjects.
At least, that’s the understanding I have from my research of trackbacks after posting this post.
