Post pictures in the same format as imported from blogger…
-
So I switched from Blogger because this is supposedly better.. I imported my blog -Piece of cake. I’m happy with the look and everything.. BUT, now I want all my posts to look exactly the same. I’m not asking for much, I just want to post a picture the way it appears now in the imported posts. I guess my question is about image size. Any help would be appreciated.

Afraid you’re the only one who can see what is occuring. Can you point to a specific example on blogger and the same example on your blog here at wp.com please? Else all we can do is make guesses.

When you say you want all your posts to look exactly the same, hopefully you’re not talking about templates, formatting, etc, are you? Because those are indeed different here.

ok.. let me try to reformulate :)
everything on my new blog (saphoto.wordpress.com) has been imported from blogger. The pictures that I use for the web are 400 by 600 pixels, however if you look at my blog the pictures as the appear they are a little bit smaller but have a link to the larger file.
All I’m trying to do is to replicate that. It seems that all I can do is to show a small thumbnail or the fullsize picture.

You can determine whether or not this is relevant. When you say you imported your whole blog contents please be aware that Blogger does not allow hotlinking. In time hotlinked images will disappear. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/import-from-blogger-typepad-mt-lj/

For externally-hosted images there are two options:
1) If you use the code editor, you can just type in the dimensions you want and format the image as a link to the full-size version.2) I use the Visual editor, and to tweak size, etc, I select the image, click on the Image icon, which looks like a tree, and set height, alignment, etc there. Then I select the image and click on the Link file and input the URL of the image itself in the URL box and hit Update.
If you’re uploading them to your own WordPress.com space, you should see those options right in the Uploads box. Link to File is the one that makes it clickable to full-size. To make it show 400 x whatever, just tell it to show full-size and shrink it down once it’s in the post using either the code or visual methods from above. You also have the option of (in the Uploads box) selecting Edit, which will give you the URL of the image, and you can just use that in the post, with either your code or visual icon, as if it were hosted elsewhere. That’s what I find easiest, actually. I copy the URL and put it in the visual image editor.

I see now that indeed the images are not actually imported. But regardless it works and I like it like that. Now all I want is to upload pictures so that they are displayed in the same fashion and size. How can I accomplish that?
-
You either need to upload them to your wordpress account from your computer using the Upload box under the Write Post box, or you need to find a third-party host that allows hotlinking like Flickr or Photobucket and put them in there. As for how to display them, etc, I gave the instructions in my above post.

thanks for the help it works. I just don’t understand why so much work is required for such a simple task! -rant
I also find that resizing pictures makes them more pixelated than the real size.. I’m not too keen on that.

I used the import feature from wordpress. Go to the manage tab, import, blogger. Then it asks you if it’s ok for a third party to access the account, say yes. Pretty easy.

In your wordpress.com blog Dashboard -> Manage -> Uploads
Do you see all your images there? If not then they are not on the wordpress.com servers. They are hotlinked to Blogger and may disappear. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/import-from-blogger-typepad-mt-lj/
