Post Scheduling

I have a question regarding the time of the post-scheduling.
I am based in Tokyo, Japan, and I usually try to schedule my posts in EST.

When I schedule my post in the calendar window to say, January 2nd 8AM EST, the actual scheduling shows the day BEFORE (January 1st 9PM) instead, which doesn’t make sense since JT is 13 hours forward.

I’m just curious how the scheduling works on WP in different time zones, and hope my question makes sense.

  • Hi there!

The posts will be scheduled using the time zone you set for your whole site, I can see it’s EST at the moment. Where so you see the wrong time after the post was already scheduled?
Can you share an example of that? A screenshot would be great. You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/) and paste the link into your reply.

    Hello, thanks for the reply.

This is how it looks. https://snipboard.io/sw5Cpf.jpg

  • Hm, that’s odd. When I access the post I can see the scheduled time in EDT and the correct time in my timezone (CEST):

What time zone is set on the PC that you’re working on?

  • Oh wait, it’s not correct actually, it should be 2PM my time so it seems that’s its inverted. Let me check this with our devs.

Is there any update on this issue?

  • Hi there,

    No updates yet.

Our developers prioritise issues based on the number of people affected, and I’m afraid not many people schedule posts in a time zone different from the one they’re living in, so this issue isn’t very high on the list to address.

We’ll follow up here as soon as we have more information, but I can’t tell you when that might be.
