Post summary for the front page

How can I get the posts on the front page to only show a summary of the full article? I don’t like how much scrolling I have to do and I think the articles get lost. I know there must be a way. If it helps, I’m mindyourdirt.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi James,
You can do this by adding the More Tag to your posts. You can add that tag right below the content you want to have on your front page. Visitors will only see that content, and they can click through to read the full post.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :) (And don’t worry about the double post here!)

Rachel, I could kiss you! So simple and yet so helpful that little button is!! Thank you a thousand times, this will really help me dial in my “design”.
If I can trouble you yet again, is it possible to have the comments section on the bottom as well as the top of a post? I worry that a longer post will keep people from commenting because they may not know to scroll all the way up again.
Or, at the very least, and my second best scenario; can the comments be moved to the bottom of the post?
Again, thanks so much!!
yours,
James -
Hi James,
If someone goes to an individual post on your site, they’ll see the comments section right at the bottom of the post, for example here:
Since you’re planning to use the More tag in your posts, visitors who start on the front page of your site will click through to read the rest of the individual post and will have that comments section right at the bottom when they finish reading.

Hello Rachel!
If it's alright, I have another comment related questions. Is there a way to add an additional “leave a comment” button at the bottom of the post as a way to keep people from scrolling up after reading a long post?
hope you're well!

Hi James, I see Robyn answered this question in your other support thread. Although as she mentioned there isn’t a way to add a “leave a comment” button at the end of the post that goes straight to your comments, there are a couple other approaches you might try:
1. You could use the More Tag higher up in your posts, so less of the text appears on the front page. That way, readers have to click through to view the full post, and the “leave a comment” section will appear at the bottom of the post there.
2. You could put the More Tag at the very bottom of the post (so none of the text in the post is hidden) and then adjust the text in that more tag like this:
<!--more Leave a Comment-->That way, instead of saying, “Read More,” it will say, “Leave a Comment,” wherever you place that tag. That will take people to the individual post page with the comment section at the bottom of the page. I hope that helps!

That. Is. Genius. It would ultimately serve the same purpose. Thank you thank you thank you.
