Post the photos on my blog that I bring up… it's not working today.

I’ve been trying to download a photo all day…and it won’t process. The photo comes up but it won’t continue any further to post it on my blog. I’ve followed the same procedure I’ve used since I started my blog but it’s not working today.

Please read these troubleshooting images tips and know that in many cases people are trying to upload HUGE images directly from their cameras. It’s as if they are trying to park semi trailer trucks in Vespa sized parking spaces.

That way you will get the best image quality, not waste your image storage space, and be able to upload images easily ie. no troubleshooting required.

Hi, Timethief… All my images are set at 500 pixels… I always resize everything to save space in my computer and to make it easy to share. I can only think that there must be some connection between me and my WordPress blog that’s blocked in some way or is overloaded causing delay. Also all my images are black and white line drawings which are not difficult to display with just a title.
Thanks for your help… but all I can do is wait at this point to see if it clears up. My followers will be confused since I always post on Saturday evening.

How frustrating!
(1) How are are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?
I’m asking because the way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.
(2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Note: If you are running IE9 in compatibility mode then be aware that it renders as IE7 and IE7 is not supported.(3) Have you tried?

A lot of people are reporting image problems today. I know that some ISPs occasionally mistakenly block access to parts of WordPress.com, including image servers. That could be what’s happening here. Can you try contacting them and asking them to check?

Hi, raincoaster, I’m beginning to think you’re right on here. This is acting like when AT&T was on strike and we couldn’t get internet connections…
Tonight when it pulls up the drawing to be posted, the button “publishing” starts turning but it keeps turning and turning and not doing anything…for hours now. So I may just have to wait till WordPress fixes their problem if I’m going to continue with this blog. I’ve done everything I else I can think of to help this along.

No, contact your ISP. If they are the problem, nothing will change if they don’t get notified.

raincoaster…. I’m able to make comments and send them out… so it’s not he ISP connection. The problem is simply in them downloading the drawing once it’s been pulled up on the site. Evey other connection works on the site but that one.

I’d like to rule-out a browser-specific issue.
Would you please try a different browser, like Firefox or Chrome?

I’m not at liberty to change my computer. The problem is not with my computer but with WordPress. The image comes up fine in their space for the image… but when I click on their “publish” it just goes round and round as if there’s a missing link. My computer works fine for what I do. I am not going to change it …. if WordPress doesn’t work with my computer I will have to try something else…
This was working fine ever since April. It’s just something that started over the weekend.

You don’t need to change computers, just install a new browser, so we can rule-out if the problem is with us your browser.
I can’t reproduce the issue myself, so the problem does not appear to be with us.

ISPs not infrequently blog IMAGE servers, not all of WordPress.com. If somebody uploads a naughty image that triggers the filter, it can take a long time for the corporate powers that be to realize they are now blocking images on all 30 million blogs.

The image I’m trying to upload is a haiga (that’s a Japanese literary form) of a black and white pen and ink drawing of a hummingbird with a haiku written by a remarkable poet and birder. There is nothing that should give pause to anyone to load it. It’s a 500 pixel photograph. It’s about as simple as it gets.
It loads fine in the WordPress box, but the “publish” button just does not seem to engage for some reason.

I haven’t tried to publish posts without an image…since the posts necessary for my blog are my drawings. That’s the whole site. I have no trouble at all commenting on my blog … and I have no trouble commenting on other blogs. It’s just this one drawing that they can’t seem to publish, but it’s the next post on my schedule and it’s related to dated material.
I haven’t ever had trouble posting before this.

Please try publishing a quick post without an image in it. If the same issue happens, we can at least stop focusing on images as the potential cause.

I got it to work…. I used the pop-out feature and it published with no trouble.
I don’t know if you know what it feels like when something you’ve been working on goes haywire and you work into exhaustion trying to fix it and all of a sudden it pops up and it works! It’s a bit dizzying, I can tell you. This whole weekend was spent on this. I invite you all to come and enjoy my “smell of rain”…. post … a Haiga with Tom Painting haiku.
