Post Thumbnails (or lack of)

I recently came upon this page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-thumbnails/
So I duly followed the instructions, only to notice a complete lack of the mentioned “set thumbnail”. I also noticed this page was last modified on October 26, 2009, so it’s very recent. Am I missing something? Why is there no such option in add/edit a post?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hmm…occasionally wordpress.com introduces new features without announcing them, or publishes Support documents for features not yet released. Or perhaps, this is a buggy feature that has been retracted for fixing. Just guessing.

@thereisanotherworld-Saw that the other day while browsing the Support docs in search of news about the new media editing features. Couldn’t find the Thumbnail thing either.

It’s a shame because it sounds like an interesting feature! Hopefully somebody will clarify, or it’ll appear again soon.

I saw it also. When I clicked it what happened is a thumbnail of the image I used at the beginning if the posts appeared at the end of the post.
It’s reminiscent of the free “linkwithin” related posts widget which I use on my self hosted blog and I would be delighted if we could use that widget on wordpress.com blogs. LinkWithin is a blog widget that appears under each post, linking to related stories from your blog archive. It displays a thumbnail image and permalinked title for 3 related posts at the end of your posts. If an image is not contained in the related post then it displays a permalinked title.

It is not working right now.
It worked for a nano-second and then vanished, and is now skewed. screwed?
I have had other problems, so I’d say wp.com is working behind the scenes to update things. Editor? Photo uploading?

Hi guys, as mentioned in the support page, post thumbnails will be utilized in a broader way via future themes. They are meant to be used in only in themes that are designed with post thumbnails in mind. :) Please keep an eye on http://en.blog.wordpress.com/ for announcements about new themes as they come along.

Its nice … I’ll wait …. but, I would like to have such feature enable to work in my actual theme..
Not only in a new theme.
