Post Title Has Changed…and I Didn’t Do It

  • Unknown's avatar

Over 3 hours ago, I wrote a post titled, “The Human Body is a Sacred Place. About an hour ago, when checking my site, I saw that the title now reads, “Private: The Human Body is a Sacred Place.”

Also, I have observed that while I have received hits on other posts, no hits are showing for this post.

I went to Privacy Options and saw that the settings have not changed, and my blog should be available for the general public.

Any help or suggestions will be great.

This has happened to me previously too. You can change the “post status” from “private” to “published” using the blue buttons on the left hand side of the page beyond the editor’s box. Edit the post and look for “Post Status” then click on the +sign to open it. Now change the status and publish the post again.

Thank you Timethief. I did it in a little different way, but it resolved the problem.

Would you please share your different way? It may prove useful to others reading this thread.

    Sure Timethief. Good idea.

On the post itself, I clicked edit. At the bottom of the page in edit mode, beside the buttons “save and continue editing” and “save” was also “publish.” I pressed publish, and the deed was done.

I’m still a bit concerned, though, about this post as I have yet to see any hits on it, although there are hits on others. Could you check it for me?

    Thanks a lot.

Never mind about checking my site, anyone. I ran a test post which worked fine, although the problem post had still not shown any views. Finally, now hours later, it is showing views.

    Cheers!

I noticed that you say in the sidebar of your blog you don’t know how to place the SOB badge in your sidebar.
    (1) The image must be uploaded first from the Successful Bloggers site to your computer.
    (2) Then upload the image to wordpress.
    (3) After that here’s an example of the code you enter into a text widget to achieve this using the turquoise coloured badge <a href="http://www.successful-blog.com/"><img src="http://writenow.wordpress.com/files/2007/01/sob1thumbnail.GIF" alt="SOB1.thumbnail" /></a>
Please note that I have included the date in the code as a January date and that this will change if you do the image upload in February.

Thank you again, Timethief. You are very helpful.

    More cheers!

That is exactly the Problem that I have sometimes.

On Monday, I posted a text titled, http://spqr7.wordpress.com/2007/01/29/apocalypto-de-mel-gibson-les-mayas-et-les-sacrifices-humains/
(but the same thing happened at least once with another post).

During the first hours, I received a few hits on this post then I observed no hits any more during several hours but the other posts were still receiving hits.

I did not understood what happened, and I was thinking “maybe nobody is interested in mly new post, all this work for nothing, what a pitty” :-(

Later, as I was modifying this post, I saw that the circle “Private” was blacked.

I published my post again by clicking on the “Published” circle and saving it.

I went to Privacy Options and saw that the settings have not changed, and my blog should be available for the general public.

Is it a bug or something else ?

    Good morning everyone:

I actually had the same thing happen again a couple of days ago, no hits on a newly published post, then I noticed the title had been changed to include the word private. It was again easily corrected in the same manner of which I had previously posted.

    Bug? Not sure.
