Post titles of theme Twenty Ten

Hi, since today the post titles on my main page are not showing any more. Is there a technical problem, is it because the theme is not supported any longer or is it that I made a mistake? Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When I visit your site I am seeing blog posts on the homepage, and they all appear to have a post title when I take a look:

Am I seeing something different from what you are seeing? If so do I need to visit a specific link other than your homepage? I may not be looking in the correct place. Thanks for the additional info!

    Hi,

thank you for your answer. Yesterday, I changed the format of all posts from “short message” to “standard”. That solved the problem on the main site. I am still wondering how the titles disappeared in the first place.

  • Hello there,

That does sound like odd behaviour – and one that’s very difficult to replicate.

Are you able to share what browser is in use via: https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/ please?

Also are you able to tell us if there are any browser extensions in use please? In particular, Ad blockers?

    Many thanks in advance.

    I use Firefox 84: https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/b/ANMW8

There is an Ad blocker in use, but that’s not the source of the problem. I already checked by using another browser and other devices without Ad blockers.

I changed the format of the main page’s first post back to “short message” so you can have a look how the problem looks like.

  • You currently have that top post’s format set as an Aside, which does not display a title.

Try setting it back to the Standard post format: https://wordpress.com/support/posts/post-formats/

The point is that all posts were set as an Aside (didn’t know the English term yet since I use the German version) and did display their title from when I made up the blog in 2015 until they suddenly stopped to do so the day before yesterday. Guess I have to use the Standard post format from now on.

  • You can also try updating your theme to a newer one since Twenty Ten has already been retired. Remember that once you change it, you won’t be able to use it again, but you can try other themes without activating them. For that, click on the three dots next to the theme’s name and choose the option Try&Customize.

This will allow you to see how the theme would look like with your content and how you could customize it.
