Post titles with a hyphen between the two last words
-
I’ve searched but can’t find an answer or solutions.
It looks like all of our post titles now have a hyphen between the last two words. I believe that it wasn’t always de case.
eg: 5 “Tips for Tiny House-Travel”
I don’t want the hyphen between “House” and “Travel”. The post title does not have that hyphen when I edit the post. If I copy and paste the title directly (like I did just above), the hyphen doesn’t copy.
It seems to be a formatting issue but I can’t figure out how to fix it. It just shouldn’t happen in the first place…
Thanks for any helpGuillaume

I see exactly what you mean and it’s super weird. Did you happen to change your header font recently? The behavior you are reporting shouldn’t happen with any font, but any additional info you can provide about what might have changed right before the hyphens started appearing will be helpful.

I honestly don’t think we’ve touched the font or the appearance of our website recently… I did try some CSS code when I first noticed the issue but nothing fixed it. I have since then deleted all the CSS I used.

Hi there,
I dug a little deeper into this and the problem is being caused by a combination of elements–specifically the font you’ve chosen for your headers, the length of your titles and Chrome. (If you look at your site in Safari, or your titles that are 4 words or less, you’ll see the hyphen’s don’t appear).
The most immediate fix is to choose a different header font.
Is that something you’d be willing to try? Calluna Sans or FF Dagny are both options you might like.
Keep in mind the font you have now (Eigerdals) is a legacy font so if you switch you won’t be able to go back to it.
If that’s not an option for you I can submit a bug report, but I can’t make any promises as to when (or if) this specific issue will be resolved. The fact that it’s a problem with a font we no longer offer, means the issue is likely to be a lower priority :(
Let me know what you think about picking a different header font and we can go from there.

Ha, interesting. I just changed the font and it looks like it works just fine. Thanks for the suggestion.
That solution works for us though it doesn’t really fix the issue, it’s just an alternative. But I can see how it wouldn’t be high on the priority list! Thanks again!

Glad you were able to find another font that works for your headers.

That’s absolutely true, and we’ve reported the problem to the Chrome developers. Changing the font however was the fastest way to get your site looking good again :)
