Post to WP from email?

How do you post to WP from email? I have seen this done and heard about it from different writers and bloggers. Both posting to a site like WP, as well as posting an article on a Magazine’s website. How is it done at WP, and if it can’t be done, do you know where I can go to get it done?

There is a service called blogmailr which can supposedly set you up to email to your blog, but it’s not free. I don’t have the URL, but just do a search on it. One person mentioned it earlier and was having some problems and I don’t know if it was resolved or not.

So there is nothing in WordPress that does this huh? I read last year around this time, a wordpress staff said they were working on it, I guess they are still “working on it”?

You can post via cell phone supposedly, but there isn’t anything for email that I know of yet. This link mentions email as “not yet.”

You can post to a wordpress blogging server from email if it is setup correctly. See:

Just not here at wordpress.com. I guess you’d have to install wordpress on your own server and configure it. See: (http://wordpress.org/download/)

For what it’s worth I just tried http://www.blogmailr.com/ and it works perfectly. It took about fifteen minutes after I sent the email for it to appear on my testblog but it’s there and the formatting is fine, so I’ve had no problems with it. There’s a free account (which I used) and also a commercial one; the commercial one is supposed to have support for tagging and inserting images. Well worth checking out if you want to post by email.
