posted as old post instead of new one

i was editing a new blog and hit publish by mistake. I tried to stop it but instead it published as august 27 (the ay i wrote the draft) and is now in the list of blogs instead of as a new one. Can i either delete it or put it as a new post instead of an older one?

You can change the publish date in the Publish module and then hit the update button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/schedule-a-post/
Whenever you have a draft post that’s been sitting for a while, always hit the “save draft” button first to make sure it updates the post slug. (I know, advice given too late is given too late.)

It’s also quite possible to unpublish a post using the same module, under “Visibility”, but as they say, the cat’s out of the bag and your email notification has been sent to any followers you may have. Of course, if it is critical, then do so.

Protip: When drafting, set the publication date FORWARD to some time in the future. When your story is ready for publishing for real, reset the publication date and time back to your current time and date. That way, the story won’t be accidentally let loose.
Trivia: All my stories are ‘scheduled’ for publishing at least 3 hours ahead (usually 12 hours). So after I press “the button” and if there’s any “stop press” info in the meantime, I can still go back to the story and make amendments.

i dont see it anymore on my blog I have it scheduled for sept 10 but if i click on my posts I see it. apparently my followers who are still reading the one i posted the other day have it?

Another Protip: Subscribe to your own blog by both email and RSS. That way, you’ll have a pretty good idea what your followers are (apparently) getting from you.
