posted image sharpness quality

Didn’t even noticed myself but a friend realised that image posted are different quality as opposed to the same images open on a separate window/tab.
ex post:
https://worldlistener.wordpress.com/2015/02/21/4-2/
ex same image on new window:

can you see the difference in sharpness?
So, I wonder am i doing something wrong? is it suppose to be that way ? or is nikonimagespace being silly?
Many thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you on a retina device by any chance? You could try uploading your image at double the size you want it to be in the final version. For example, the final size here is 321 x 480. You could try uploading it first at 642 x 960.
I don’t see a difference in quality here on a non-retina screen.

Hey Kathryn, thanks for checking and for the reply. However, I investigated and tried the same links on firefox, chrome and safari (the last is what i use mostly). Funny enough this issue is only on safari 8.0.5. Google shows both the image on the post and the same image opened in a new window (link above) as sharp as the original (on nikon image space site). And firefox has a similar issue as safari but the blurring isn’ t as obvious. I will try and test more once I’m back in 10 days.

That’s interesting! This is from an Apple support doc:
You may have noticed that images on your website aren’t as sharp as other elements when viewed on a Retina display. The text on your site might look crisp, but the images aren’t as sharp as you would like them to be. Since a Retina display contains four times the amount of pixels compared to a non-Retina display, Safari automatically enlarges the width and height of all HTML elements by a factor of two. Text and form elements maintain high definition, but images look subpar because they lack sufficient image data.
If you’re on a retina device – you didn’t say ;) – you may still want to try uploading a larger version of the image as I suggested earlier and see if that helps. Let me know how it goes.

Hey kathryn, thanks for looking into it. Im not on retina and tested on few more OS X no retina display since then, and the issue is the same. It doesn’t look as sharp only on safari, unless i open the image on a new window. The actual pictures are a direct link to ‘nikon image space’ where the original image is actually bigger, the size is define by the option with in the ‘nikon image space’ site link generator. thank you very much anyhow, not a big deal, I just thought was awkward.
