Posterous

Is anyone out there currently using posterous (http://posterous.com) to post via email to your wordpress.com blog? I have received conflicting reports from both wordpress and posterous support people, one saying you can’t use posterous with wordpress and the later saying they have “hundreds of people” who currently use posterous to do just that. If posterous is not compatible with wordpress, is there another service someone is using to post via email (inluding pictures, preferably) to their wordpress.com blog? Thanks for the help.

A search for “posterous” here in the forum brought this: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-doesnt-wordpress-allow-for-e-mail-posts-like-blogger-does?replies=8#post-274781 . There are other posts as well so you might want to do the search and read the others as well.

I guess I should have mentioned in my initial posting that I had read all of the forum posts regarding posterous prior to posting here. I thought I would check out the forums and post my question to see if perhaps wordpress had very recently changed settings which don’t allow posterous to work with wordpress.com blogs. My reason for writing to both wordpress and posterous support is because when I attempt to add my wordpress.com blog to my posterous account, I continually get errors and am unable to do so. I received an email from wordpress support stating that “Posterous doesn’t work with WordPress.com I’m afraid, my apologies.” However, this seemed contradictory to what I read on the forums.
I had thought that perhaps the problem was related to not having XML-RCP enabled on my blog, but have yet to find where to enable such a setting. I also subsequently read on a forum here that one user believed XML-RCP to be automatically enabled on wordpress. Perhaps someone can confirm or provide some help? Thanks!

On wordpress.com blogs, xml-rpc is always on. With self-hosted blogs you can turn it off for security reasons if you wish, but not here.
I post via a offline blog client, ecto, and it works with xml-rpc and I never have any issues.
It seems to me that posterous should work on getting things right so that it works with .COM. There are a lot of potential users here.

I got it figured out and looks like all of my problems were due to personal errors. So, in short, you can use posterous.com and you should! I had excellent support from them in trying to figure out what was wrong and it ended up that they have everything worked out as far as I can tell. I also appreciate all of the wordpress support on here. You guys rock!

Sorry —
I am a WP.org user. I host my own site at http://www.n3blog.com. I have attempted to set up Posterous to reflect postings onto my domain, but it doesn’t seem so easy.
Any assistance would be G.A. Thanks
