Posterous import

I imported my posterous files to wordpress but they aren’t appearing.

You attempted to import the entire Posterous .zip backup file.

When I click on Tools- Import – Posterous, I don’t get an option for selecting the XML File, but instead get the message –
‘We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed’ -
I have reset your importer.
Please try again with just the WordPress .xml file as detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-posterous/

I can’t isolate the XML File from the Zip File to upload it. When I click on the Zip File, that is the file that is entered. So I copied the XML File to Documents and entered that but then it says it’s not a XML File.

Right, you need to extra the .xml from the .zip file following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-posterous/
How you open a .zip file varies greatly depending on the operating system, but double-clicking usually works just fine. Then, drag the .xml file out of it so you have it in an entirely separate location.

Yes, I dragged the XML File out and into Documents, then tried again and dragged it to the Desktop. Then entered that file into the box for importing. In both instances I got the message that there is an error and it is not an XML File.

And the file name is clearly listed with .xml at the end, or is it just “wordpress _Export_1”?

Ok, please add the .xml file extension to the file name, then try importing again.
(The resulting file name should be wordpress _Export_1.xml)

I have the same problem. Whenever I try to import the wordpress_export_1.xml from my desktop to WordPress following all the instructions, I get the error “Sorry, ther has been an error
The file is not an xml file. Please see instructions for downloading and using the Posterous backup file.”And the file is a xml file, no doubt about it.

Strangely it seems to have appeared in my mobile phone email app, but not on my computer. Can you resend it please?
