I write a weekly blog entitled, “An Entrepreneur’s Words to Live By.” It posts every Sunday (as it has since 2013) and I manually upload it to Facebook. Recently, I was unable to push the post to FB. I followed the instructions on the Help screen and still cannot push the post. The Jetpack Social function is “blurred” and cannot be accessed. Please help me figure out how to enable this blog to be posted on Facebook. It is automatically set up to push to LinkedIn and that seems to be working. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

Thank you for getting in touch. It seems that the authorization token for Facebook has expired, causing the issue with Facebook auto sharing. To resolve this, you’ll need to re-establish the connection.

    1. From your dashboard, navigate to Tools → Marketing → Connections.
    2. Click the Disconnect button next to the Facebook page you wish to disconnect.
    3. Reload the screen and confirm the button now says Connect, but don’t click that link yet.
    4. Log into your Facebook account. Then go to your Facebook Account Settings → Business Integrations page by clicking this Business Integration Settings link.
    5. Remove the WordPress.com app by ticking the box next to it and clicking Remove. If there is no WordPress.com app listed here, you can skip this step.
      • Do not tick the box to delete content created by WordPress.com. This would remove all previously shared Facebook posts, and there is no way to recover them.
    6. Back in your WordPress.com account, in Tools → Marketing → Connections, follow these steps to connect again.

Once you do that, everything should be back to normal! Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance.

Thank you for this assistance. For some reason, I still cannot get WordPress to connect with Facebook. I have followed the prescribed steps numerous times and WordPress simply won’t recognize my Facebook page. I click Connect in the Tools/Marketing/Connections screen (after having removed it from the Business Integration Settings link). It says “Connecting” and then reverts back to “Connect.” This is a very frustrating process and I don’t know how to move forward at this point. Thanks for your continued assistance.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re facing in connecting WordPress with Facebook. I appreciate your patience and effort in trying to resolve this issue.

Upon checking your site, I noticed that there is still a Facebook connection from 2018. This could be the reason why you’re facing this issue, as it seems that Facebook hasn’t been properly disconnected.

Please remove WordPress.com again from your Facebook Business Integrations page and refresh the page to make sure the connection has been removed.

Once you have confirmed that WordPress.com is no longer listed in your Business Integrations on Facebook, please try connecting again.

If you encounter any more issues or if there’s anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to let me know. We’re here to help.

Thank you for your assistance. When I return to the FB Business Integrations page, it does not show that I have any connections. I have been through every step multiple times and cannot resolve. When I look at the Connections page, it shows the I’m only connected to LinkedIn. There is a Connect button for FB – but when I click, it tells me that I don’t have any FB page to connect to. I simply want to connect to my personal FB page. I don’t know why I’m having so much trouble figuring this out! :)

@anentrepreneurswords – I’m sorry we missed this earlier. Do you still need help? If so, what did you find with steps 4 and 5?

Also can you confirm this is a facebook Page and not a personal profile or a group?

I’m trying to post to my personal FB page. When I go through the various steps I cannot find a Disconnect button. Until recently I have been able to manually post my blog to my personal FB page. Then all of a sudden the WP format changed and I no longer have the ability to even manually post the blog – much less set it up to do so automatically. I do still need help – please! Really appreciate all the attention this is getting. Thanks.

    Hi there,

Pote that Facebook does not support auto-sharing to personal Facebook profiles, only public pages. See: https://wordpress.com/support/post-automatically-to-social-media/#facebook-pages

This is a limitation of Facebook’s API (they do not support the ability to connect personal profiles) so not something that we can get around on our end sadly.

Until recently I have been able to manually post my blog to my personal FB page. Then all of a sudden the WP format changed and I no longer have the ability to even manually post the blog

Are you able to explain this in more detail? You are copying the link (to your blog post) and pasting it into the post box on Facebook to share that way? Or are you using some other method?

To be safe, I tried sharing the URL to a recent post (https://anentrepreneurswords.com/2023/12/31/the-we-entrepreneur-2/) and it seemed that Facebook formated it as a rich embed (featured image, title, brief excerpt, etc.) as expected. Here is what I saw when I tried on my end:

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is screenshot-2024-01-02-at-3.10.47e280afpm.png

Do you get the same result if you share the https://anentrepreneurswords.com/2023/12/31/the-we-entrepreneur-2/ URL by pasting it in a new Facebook post as well?

    Thanks for the additional info!
