Posting a complete newspaper article?
-
If I give the source its due credit, can I “legally” post the whole or most of the article? I don’t want to paraphrase it becaues it is a spoof on something and it needs to be in the original form.
-
That is something that varies from case to case, and you have to check the copyright statements and such at the source to see what is legal and what is not. It can vary widely.
-
Do a search on the internet for “fair use” so that you can get an idea of what that concept is all about.

The Blog Herald has a post on fair use – it’s their latest.

I just read lettershome’s post and I recommend it to anyone thinking of “borrowing” a photo from a website.
Where to find a photo that can be used?

I’ve been a newspaper writer, and I have written to blog owners and asked them to take down my article or snippet it and link to the original home, saying “read the rest here”. And my boss made it VERY clear that if they didn’t, we had lots of lawyers on retainer.
