I am starting an educational blog, and want to show, how to do a gif animation. Can I post a gif animation into WordPress? If so, what tool do I use?

Yes, you can post a Gif. You cannot post Flash. Just use the regular Image uploader on the Write Post page and upload it like a normal image.

You have to make sure and insert it full-sized though. Resized animated gif’s will not play, they will only be a static image.

Ummm, my old wordpress.COM blog is protected, yes, but the contents for that blog have been moved to my self-hosted blog, which is linked to my username.
