Posting activity issue

  • Unknown's avatar

The posting activity module in the calypso insights screen starts the week on Tuesdays now. The top boxes on my screenshot all took place on a Tuesday. It seems all boxes should be moved down one row.

Hope I described the issue properly. :)

    Cheers

  • Hi there,

This is very strange: When I view your stats it’s showing like this to me: https://cloudup.com/cRSVTkJKbVd

Can you please try refreshing your browser cache and cookies and see if that makes any difference?

Can you also let me know in what browser and browser version you’re viewing that page?

    Hi Herman,

I’m working with Firefox 47.0 on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS. My browser is configured to delete cache & cookies when closing it, so deleting both of them didn’t make a difference.

I’ve also restarted Firefox in SafeMode (without any add-ons) now, just to rule them out. Unfortunately didn’t help. My posting activity screen still looks like this.

There’s one thing I noticed. When changing the interface language in Account settings (https://wordpress.com/me/account) from ‘German’ back to ‘English’, the posting activity module all of a sudden miraculously displays correctly. Reverting it back to ‘German’ makes the issue reappear.

  • Thank you for the language information. It appears that is the cause, as I could reproduce this behaviour with several different language settings.

I’ve reported this bug to our developers. If you have a GitHub account you can follow the issue here to be updated on any changes, else I’ll update you in this thread should there be any changes to this:

Thanks Herman. I’m subscribed to the issue on Github now. :)

  • Glad I could help, and I hope this doesn’t take too long to fix :)

Looks like it’s taking longer than expected. Still not fixed. I’m surprised no one else has reported this as well. Seems like the Insights page isn’t as popular as I expected. :)

  • There were some other issues in the stats page preventing any data at all from showing for certain languages. Our devs also need to prioritise based on the severity of the issue and the number of users affected. I’m afraid layout problems only come after bugs affecting functionality, but they will get to this issue as well.

As for the lack of other reports, most likely people just don’t notice that the layout is off when they do look at that page.

Agreed. Stumbled across this Stats and Insights – High CPU & RAM topic when I checked the forums because of your reply. Had no idea you have so much trouble with the stats page at the moment.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to put it but I’ve recently noticed some speed and design issues with the stats page as well. Can’t pinpoint to an exact day though.

Some parts of the popup bubble which appears when hovering over a specific day won’t disappear when hovering over another day. This results in a dark blue bar covering the x-axis after checking some days. (→ Screenshot)

When switching to the days/month/years tab (coming from Insights) the spinners look like they’re missing some CSS. Looks like two blue rectangles circling clockwise hovering over a grey circle. (→ Screenshot)

If you head to the Calypso repo on GitHub and search for Stats issues you’ll find quite a long list. We’re working through the issues slowly but surely.

By the way, if you’re active on GitHub you’re more than welcome to create issues there directly. But if you prefer to report them here that’s fine as well.

The pop-up bubble issue is known, and is apparently restricted to Firefox. You can find its report here:

    https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/5162

I’m following up with the team if the spinner appearance is intentional design or a bug. I’ll let you know what they say.

  • I did some digging and found the spinner issue has been reported, but on a different area of the Calypso dashboard. I’ve added your report to that thread:

    https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/5844

  • The topic ‘Posting activity issue’ is closed to new replies.
