posting an excerpt on the front page?

  I read somewhere recently that, by putting the whole of each post on the front page of your blog, you are duplicating your content and the search engines mark you down for it. Is this correct? If it is true, Is there an easy way to achieve change this – I can think of a way of making it happen, but wondered if there was a one button way to do it?

  No it is not. The search engines are smart enough to know what is going on with front pages and single post pages.

  You can if you wish use the read more tag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ , but I would only use that on long posts.
