Hello,
I’ve the same problem with my theme when I wanted to add a new entry today ‘timethief’ suggested I could post it here, too. Don’t know exactly why.
My ‘solution’ was to enter my images as gallery – the only option given – publish th wrong thing, then edit it, (WHEN YOU EDIT YOU GET THE WELLKNOWN INTERFACE!) that is, deleting and adding anew and then, after two false entries, I finally got it as I wanted. Three times the time I’d have needed yesterday.
I hope this gets solved, because if not, I don’t see how I possibly can continue my blog.
As english is not my language – I apologize – I’m not sure if I’ve understood all that I’ve read in this thread. It doesn’t seem very friendly, does it?
Wish you all a good time and that it gets changing to better – even if it means to go a step back: if it ain’t broke, dont fix it!

I totally agree, and I can tell that the spanish version is similar in rude tone. The answer to my first of all question contained a ‘you can do so or not’ – that is, to me at least, just arrogant and presumptuous.That was one of the reasons to change to the english forum, hoping for a more polite exchange of informations, giving it a second try. Now I see, this is not a personal rudeness of one.
I hope it gets solved, for this is not my life, just a forum related to a blog. I don’t need to go through this!
Just for those who want to know: I love change!

I would never have given your name here, and no, this obviously is not the post I am speaking about. I dont know how to find and link a post as quick as you can, but obviously you know what I am talking about. I did thank you for that advice, didn’t I? Well, it seems you have a lot of spare time.It seems clear to me, that the advisors at this forum are bound to be ‘distant’. (nice euphemism, isn’t it?!)
It shouldn’t need to be this way.Back to the question, for those you still need solution to adding pics:
I don’t know if this applies to other themes as well – I work with twentyfourteen – and there are three possibilities to make a new entry. Two of them end in the new beep …; the third is (still?) leading to the well functioning and known interface with all options. Just play with the ‘buttons’ and hopefully you find your way in your theme.

I also am having problems with the “new” interface. It sucks! The only way I have been able to post pics within the post is to input the text, create the gallery, then save the post and go back to my dashboard, then edit the post and use the “add Media” button from there. Also, the spacing is wigging out on me all of a sudden. I have been posting here daily for almost a year and now suddenly, posting has become a time consuming nightmare of ridiculous proportion. Unless it gets fixed very soon, I am going to migrate to another blog platform.

Why go back and forth between the two post editors?
Why not do as Staff advised and go to > Dashboard > Posts > Add New and do it all there in the post editor that has the full features? -
For those who enter this thread please note what follows.
The reality of blogging at WordPress.com is that this is an ever changing blogging environment as this platform is on continuous rollout. Code changes are being made constantly and in cases like this new post editor one, reversion is not going to occur.
There has been a change to the post editor interface at https://wordpress.com/post/ and Staff are recommending that we bypass the post editor there in favor of posting directly on our own blog’s dashboard at Dashboard > Posts > Add New https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-did-the-add-media-button-go?replies=2#post-1927520

Add New at https://wordpress.com/post/ is undergoing changes as part of an ongoing project to make the site multi-device mobile friendly. That is why the advice is to go to Dashboard > Post > Add New to create posts.

But (timethief) Why oh why make it harder and take more time to post than was available before? Has wordpress now become the time thief? Yes the Dashboard works but is clumsy.

I’m thinking you may be better served to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and become the master of your own self hosted WordPress.ORG site. By doing that it means you will no longer be subject to the upcoming iterations of the Add New interface. -
P.S. As you have nothing new or enlightening to add to this thread but appear to be addicted to parroting the same old same old in this and old threads as well I’ll be marking your duplicate thread for closure.

reason I am is because of my first post on this problem , I was first called stupid and was told there was no problem. I was confused and looking for help . Than was told this is a better and easier way than the old way. Opps I not that gullible. And have seen where others have asked questions also only to be looked down on.
My second reason was to be sarcastic because I actually felt some of the answers were very sarcastic.
sorry if I hurt your feelings. It is just that your name cracked me up.BTW was seriously looking at the premium package a few days ago.

the only way i can add photos into the text and resize them now is by going to dashboard>post>post new, then add media>upload files>insert into this post> then click on the pencil over the image>display settings>custom size.
i used to simply choose add image and the photo would appear in the text following the curser and automatically sized to my custom specifications.
is there any way to set my custom size as the default again? thanks in advance for your help, i’m new to this.
