Posting articles to wordpress via windows live writer.

  I have downloaded windows live writer and hope to post my articles from there to my blog at wordpress.com but i am not able to connect the windows live writer to my blog. Plz help. Configuration is done. I got the error message “Unable to download template. The style template used for editing your post could not be downloaded. You will be able to post to this weblog, but the editor will not use your weblog’s style.”

  That’s right. WordPress.com’s templates, etc, are housed here on their servers and can’t be downloaded like a regular blog. But that won’t affect your content posting. You can post writing, images, etc just as you normally would. It just reflects the fact we can’t modify our templates like you can at other sites.

  What amazed me is that someone is doing it…..posting his articles from windows live writer.

  I have been able to post without a problem using WLW until very recently. I never changed anything on my side. It would upload and then automatically take me to that post in my default browser. Suddenly since the weekend it doesnt work and I get error message:
  The response to the metaWeblog.newPost method received from the weblog server was invalid:

  It still uploads the post but doesnt complete the action now.

  When I try and update blog settings I am also getting error message:
  “Unable to download template. The style template used for editing your post could not be downloaded. You will be able to post to this weblog, but the editor will not use your weblog’s style.”

  I found this “fix” online but I don’t think it pertains to the free hosted WordPress.com but more the “other” WordPress. http://www.mindtweaks.com/wordpress/?p=233

  I use WLW all the time to make posts and pages on several blogs at wordpress.com. The only problems that I have ever had similar to those described above occured when the blog’s Privacy settings blocked WLW form obtaining the necessary info.
