Posting Blog Posts in Separate Categories?

    Hi! I am just starting my blog and want to have several categories – pretty sure I do not want separate pages – As it is now I have just posted a couple of blogs that are not finished yet, but they appear on my “Home” page and then when I create a new category they show up there too. I guess I want a separate (perhaps “static”?) “Home” page and then other categories for theme based posts. I am a photographer and I specialize in Maternity, Birth, Newborn, and Child Photography and those would be the separate types of categories I would want. So how do I set up my blog to have the categories (I understand how to do this under menu and have done this for the “Birth” category that is there now) but have posts show up only under one category? When I go to “New Post” it just wants to put it on the home page…but like I said they show up under the other categories too…THANK YOU!! : )

    Posts will ALWAYS all show up on the main blog page, but if you use a custom menu you can “hide” that page and only show category pages.
