Add topic to favorites
Does wordpress allow creating a post by sending an e-mail. I found it to be a really convenient feature in blogger. I would create my posts offline, put them in my mail queue, and next time i went online, the post would stick itself on my blog. Can one do that with wordpress?

For the record, the code to post via email exists within the WPMU code. (I have three folks doing it on my own WPMU install currently.) It’s a bit of a pain to set up though.

Pain on the admin side, not the user side.

Not a really big pain. Just a matter of setting up an email account on the server, dropping in a cron job to pull the mail into WPMU and getting the enduser to send it to the right email address. It’s just a matter of having to do it.

Ok, so could I get users to be able to email posts without having to register for a WP account?

Not with the current setup we have here at wp.com. It’s doable with the software but means giving away your own account name and password which is probably not something you want to be doing.

Not keen on doing that.

I looked into setting up additional authors for the site, but WP forces them to have their own blog before they can contribute to any other blog. What’s that all about?

No it doesn’t. Just have them create an account at wp.com and have them choose the “I don’t need a blog, just an account” option.

When I ran a test about a week ago, it would not allow me to access the dashboard of the existing blog without first setting up a new one.

Try it.

Once they have an account, get the email that they used to create their account and add it to your blog with whatever permission level you want them set at.
