Posting comment to ‘comments’ put onto blog…

    People who’ve commented on a post, and that I’ve answered, want to see other comments I’ve posted to other’s comments. How to do this? In other words, how to show all comments and all answers to comments, on the blog?

    Hi @the918family, if you’re viewing an individual blog post, all of the comments should show up (though they could be paginated).

    Or, are you hoping to show all of the latest comments on a sidebar, regardless of which post they were on? If you want that, could you send a link to the site so we can see what options are available?

    As the poster, I see all comments and my answers. Can’t find a way for others to read what I’ve commented on a comment that wasn’t theirs.

    Say my sister read some comments from others. She’d like to know what I answered that commenter, but she can’t. She can only see what I comment to her. I can’t find a permission for ALL comments and answers to be read by others.

    There is no permission for this – any visitor to your site should be able to see all comments left on a post, regardless who made the comment, or in reply to whom.

    Can you give a link to a post where all comments aren’t visible to some people so we can take a look? It would also help if you can single out a specific comment that is visible to you, but that someone else have told you is not visible to them.

    I “talked” to one lady (Les) and she said she can read comments from other people. However, she’s never put her email onto her comments, so she never sees a response from me. (if my responses showed on the blog, this should help people who don’t want to use their email). She never knew I responded to her.

    Another lady (Colleen) has put her email onto her comments, and does see my response only on the return email after I comment. Never sees it on the blog.

    This blog post (above hyperlink) has a response to the two ladies comments. Neither could see them on the blog itself, and only one saw my comment to her, as an email.

    Okay. She never saw a response from you means she didn’t get a notification of your reply. It doesn’t mean your reply isn’t visible on the post – I can see both her comment and your reply just fine at the link I posted above, even while logged out of WordPress.com.

    That’s not something we can do anything about, as it’s in Leslie’s control: if someone comments on your site using a WordPress.com account, they’ll see a notification in their own WordPress.com account when you reply. But Leslie didn’t comment using a WordPress.com account, so there’s no way for us to notify her of your reply.

    The only other way to notify someone of a reply is if they subscribed to comments on the site, which Leslie also didn’t do.

    So Leslie didn’t see a notification of your reply to her comment, because she didn’t provide us any way to notify her.

    Has Colleen checked the post again at the link I gave above? Her comment, and your reply to her, are both visible to me as well.

    Please check with both commenters and make sure exactly where they’re looking for comments. They should be looking at the single-post view, e.g. https://desertdwellers2mountainhomesteaders.home.blog/2021/05/03/new-babies/.
