posting comments

I am trying to get the comments I receive posted, along with my replies to the comments. I had not been able to find them on the post page or anywhere else. I was about to give up when I found them by scrolling to the particular posting, going to the bottom of the post and finding an indication for the number of comments. Click on the comment button and you have a new page with the comments and replies. Is this the only way to access comments? Can comments be tagged? Comments (RSS) should feed comments to subscribers but not show them on the site.

Any thoughts about how comments appear on the blog? what control or options do I have?

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Comments do not show on the main post page, and the main reason is if you have a lot of comments, your readers end up having to scroll forever to get to the next post. I know a couple blogs that typically get over 300 comments on each post, and I’ve seen it as high as 1500.

Comments show on the single post page (permalink page), which is accessed by either clicking on the comments link above or below the post (depends on the theme) or by clicking on the title of the post.

The RSS feed for comments will show all comments for a blog. If you have comment notification turned on (settings > discussion) then people can also click that when making a comment and then they will be notified by email of any comments on that post.

I am having real trouble posting comments on other blogs and websites (TIME’s Swampland, for instance). Are there any settings I have to fiddle with on my WordPress account before I can post comments on other sites?

No, not typically there are not, but you need to give us more to go on than what you have. What exactly happens when you try to comment?

Some sites require a separate registration before you can comment. Others might have comment moderation turned on so that your comment has to be approved before it appears on the blog/site.

Try leaving a comment on my test blog: http://opposablethumbz.wordpress.com/ .

Also, your username is tied to a facebook page. Is that what you wanted? That is what will be linked to your name when you comment on other wordpress.COM blogs.

Okay, just tried to post a comment to your test blog (to the post at the top of the page). Do you have comment moderation turned on?

With the Swampland blog on TIME, I have several comments from five and six months ago that my WordPress account has dutifully registered. I then took a hiatus from posting comments for a couple of months (too busy at work). Now I try again, but after having logged in I type my comments, hit the “Submit Comment” button, and am bumped back to the top of the blog entry. Nothing posts.

If I post a link to a Swampland blog in my own blog Let It Ride, however, that immediately shows up as a Trackback in the Swampland blog.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
