posting Embedded Vimeo videos

  i used to be able to post vimeo videos on my Blog but lately when I copy the url and try to use the add media from URL I get only the number of the video hyper linked and click on it, it takes you to the video vimeo page. I tried to copy and paste onto a new post and nothing. The link does not come up hyper-linked which is good but when i preview no embedded video no matter which way I try. What gives since I have tons of videos on my blog from vimeo that are all embedded?

  Will you please try using the [vimeo] shortcode method of embbeding the videos? you simply type the shortcode inside of [square] brackets into either the Viusal or HTML editor and it works every time for me. I don’t know why people even bother with the other method at all.

  OK that worked…the reason I used the other way is because it worked every time except now…any reasons as to why? Your way works great but never had to do that before. Thanks for your help.

  I have had a couple of embeds for both Vimeo and YouTube that I had to use the full short code from the link @TT gave – was a bit confusing the first time – now if the paste URL has an issue I just add the short code and away things go.

  YouTube videos still using the media URL thingy…Vimeo nope. Short code with brackets will do. Just weird how it stopped working out of nowhere.

  This happens every time the source site changes things. That’s why we recommend the shortcode instead of URL or embed methods; those two always go wonky for a few days when YouTube or Vimeo change something. The shortcode just always works.
