Posting from Chrome
-
Chrome is my primary browser, but I cannot publish posts from it. I can create the posts just fine, add images, video, etc., and preview the post, but clicking on “Publish” simply hangs.
I can – and therefore must – publish my posts from IE. But I hate IE.
Can anyone suggest what the issue might be with Chrome?
Thanks!

Agreed. From Browser issues in the support documentation:
Note: We recommend that you use Firefox for optimal performance with WordPress.com. Free download link http://firefox.com/ Reference:

thwaits – WP is optimised for Firefox. It’s also a better browser by far than Chrome which, frankly, sucks. Change and your problems will probably go away.

Thanks for the replies. I had been a Firefox user for some time, but switched to Chrome shortly before I started using WordPress. I’ll go back to FF.

To Ron –
No offense intended, but I just spent several hours comparing Firefox to Chrome and also to IE8. Firefox has issues that I simply will not tolerate in my free-time’s-always-disrupted life. Same with Chrome, but Chrome is still almost the New Boy On The Block and is getting better faster. I don’t push anything other than post/reply, general email and browsing, or trying to keep going with my blog…so IE8 is still worth keeping. WordPress should be equally optimised for all browsers. Generically! Thanks from Ralph.

For interest sake please take a look here and see just how many browsers there are http://browsershots.org/ Then please take a look at the browser stats http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
Automattic is a business and I do not expect them to be paying Staff to “equally optimize [wordpress.com] for all browsers. Generically!”

@draaiorgelfan, actually Chrome is getting worse as the months go by. When it was first launched it was far better than it is now with far fewer problems. I’ve moved three of my clients off of Chrome because they were having issues with stuff that they haven’t had issues with before, and the only variable was Chrome, no other changes.
If you want to keep using Chrome, go right ahead. It is always user choice, but do not delete Firefox.

To Timethief and SacredPath –
I don’t have Firefox on my PC, the comparison was by other websites. Also here! The snow problem, remember? I’m an individual who is satisfied with IE8 as so many other WordPress.com bloggers surely must be, and if I MUST use Firefox then I’ll get paid as compensation for its unwanted annoyances. Chrome is the only other option that I’ll consider, and it IS getting better. Just forego the fireworks, OK?
Before I log out…to BOTH of you. I saw your real first names elsewhere in a backsearch of your earlier writings, and I’ll prove this sooner or later. Please note that I addressed Ron as Ron…and while we all have our necessary IDs, I prefer to be addressed as….
Ralph.
Thanks, and have a good night!

Ralph, replying to a user ID is simply habit since probably less that 0.5% include their names when they post here and most prefer not being known by name or possibly just don’t care.

Umm, prove what and why? What’s to prove?

I had the same problem…
It seems the reason is when you load the “Google Gears” for WordPress.com
Solved it by removing the gears in the “Advanced options” menu of Chrome browser.
