posting images on private blog
-
Hi,
I’m new to all this and was disappointed to find that I can’t display thumbnail galleries in a post in the way I would like without using Flicker or equivalent. This won’t work for me as I want the blog and the images to be private. Am I missing something?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Well, it would help if you described what it is that you want…and since your blog is private I guess it is impossible for us to have a look and see what could be done…

You’re probably missing something, and wpvstp is right, you’re not telling us what “the way you would like” is. Are you familiar with the WP gallery feature?

Sorry, I’ll try to describe it better.
When I look at other blogs say this one http://tworedboots.co.uk/blog/ they have nice thumbnails dispersed throughout the text that enlarge when you click them to big ones. She uses Flicker but I can’t do that because I don’t want my photos to be public (or my blog). When I use the gallery feature on WordPress.com I can’t seem to
i) display thumbnails throughout the text that enlarge to bigger versions
ii) put photos in an album and add to that album later
Perhaps I’m doing it all wrong?
Basically I want the features of Flicker but with the privacy.
Thanks for any help.

My first suggestion is to go to settings > media where you can set media options the way you want them.
The first section will determine if by default your images link to the original larger image (file), nothing, or to the current post (post URL).
You can also set thumbnail size, the default image size to be inserted and you can also set a default alignment. All these settings can be overridden at the time you insert the image into your post or page.
After making those choices, make sure and click “save changes.”
As far as an album, that would probably be best created on a page. Whenever you want to add images to the album, you can simply edit the page and add the new images to that page and save.
