POsting is becoming a nasty adventure
-
Been blogging here for 5.5 years and have to say that things have become not so good recently. Just made a post that was a very unhappy experience because,
When I went to post it there was no publish button
Tags and categories were nowhere to be seen
Had to let it auto save as a draft then go back and publish the draft
My pictures were way too small compared to what I normally post
Dragging the pictures larger was difficult because the selection tool was not functioning properly
When I could drag it would stop at random and throw my text atop the previous picture
In the end it lost some text that I did not have saved anywhere else
Tags and categories still missing in action
Spent an hour working on editing a post that should have just gone click
24 revisions to do one post is maddening, especially when you have done it without any hassles hundreds of timesI haven’t complained too much over the years and I do long for the days when WP was extraordinarily efficient. But in recent months it has been going downhill. I would like to think it might be my computer but a partner on another blog gets the same issues. What the heck is going on?

Hi. The first thing I’d suggest you to do is to follow the steps described here:

How ya doing, timethief? Been a while, eh?
Airodyssey, Have deleted cookies and refreshed till the cows come home and that doesn’t seem to change anything. Guess I will just to accept some inconsistent behavior on the ol’ posting page, oh well…..

I use Sea Monkey which is supposed to be kin to Firefox. And it worked fine until about a month ago.
Right now I have a post I can’t publish because there is no publish button. Tags and categories don’t exist anymore. This has become super annoying and don’t anyone tell me to refresh or clear cookies because I will strangle you if you do! :)

Other blogs wok okay, Walking Turcot Yards is getting useless and no one seems to have any suggestions beyond refresh, clear cookies, etc. WordPress going downhill, maybe it’s a case of fixing something that wasn’t broken way too many times?

@neath
I’m really sorry this is happening to you and I have no help to offer. Staff will reopen the contact link tomorrow and I believe you need them to sort this for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -

Hi neath,
I’ve been having some very weird problems with the posting process recently also. Overall, I’ve been using the latest version of Firefox, but lately for posting I’ve had to revert to using Mozilla’s Flock (though am a bit queasy about that, since Flock just stopped providing updates). I used Mozilla’s SeaMonkey for quite a while also, but that was some years ago and I don’t know if that’s a problem on WP now.
I hope that things get worked out for you, and your great site.

I first used WP about five years ago and thought it was very easy to use. Ive just come back to test the water again and now I find it takes far to long to do a post, the old addage of keeping it simple seems to be lost on WP developers, i had to spend an hour trying to find out how to edit an image in one of my posts. I too thought the post button had disapeared, i swear it wasn’t there before…. until it was. Doh.

Hey, disembedded, good to see you again! Awesome to see some old friends from 5 years ago still around, and, yea, it’s sure ironic that it’s wordpress that is running out of gas before we have lol.

Hate to sound like I am some kind of a stats slut but blogging without tags seems so damn incomplete somehow, as if my all posts are now half assed! :)

Now I having log in problems – I have to log in 2 – 3 times and then go to my blog’s url to verify that I am in.
Been a week and still haven’t got a reply from Support besides an automated reply saying they are looking into it.
Like I said above, seems like WP has gone on a major downslide. I can accept problems but I also expect a response.

Hi,
I too have had similar problems. The “save” and “preview” buttons no longer show up on my “Pages” site. I also added another page after creating a custom menu and when I try to add it to the “Menu” site, the “pages” section does not allow me to add any pages (in fact, it says “no items”). I sent in an e-mail to WP Support five days ago and am still waiting for a response.
My husband suggested that I move my site over to a different platform, which I am now tempted to do.
