Posting Links

    Is there a way to hyperlink anything in our posts? For instance, when I say that “Joe Snuffy” said yaddy yaddy yadda, is there a way to hyperlink Joe Snuffy so that his name becomes a link to the site I’m referring to?

    using what nosysnoop just said – …type “Joe Snuffy” then click the “Code” button, (assuming you’ve been typing in the “Visual”)

    Scroll over “Joe Snuffy” like you would if you were going to copy the name (but don’t, just ‘highlight’ it with your mouse) Click “Links” , place the URL there in the pop-up.

    Note- You might get a horizontal pop up message at the top of your screen when you Click “links” – if you do, accept it.

    Where you write a post, there should be on the toolbar the Link button. Press that and paste the url link in the box that appears. Then click the link button again to close the tag. Then place whatever text you want in between the >< tags.

    Thanks for the replies. I’ll get to work on it.

    @jhurst
    The two bloggers who came before me each gave you correct instructions for the way to create a link in two different editors.

    Tiny MCE – If you look here -> Users -> Your Profile you will see a place to mark “use visual rich text editor” . If this is checked off then icon number 10 (the little link) is the one to use to create a link. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/

    Standard editor- If you haven’t chosen to use that editor but are using the standard then nosy has given you a screen cap on the button to use to create a link.
