Posting Long Articles …

  Happy New Year All,

  I’m posting long articles that appear with no summery format in my front page. I have checked summery box in setting dashboard.
  So any solution for just showing summery of my posts then the reader has to read more option. I tried EXCERPT option but it gives nothing.

  Happy New Year!

  You can show truncated versions of your posts on your front page (and on archive and category pages) by using the “more tag.” You can use it from the Visual Editor as explained here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  Note that the summary setting you are using is for how your RSS feed is displayed. That is what your readers who subscribe to your site will see.

  When you go to your dashboard—>settings—>reading—>then scroll down to
  “For each article in a feed, show |Full text | Summary”

  Note: Excerpt option does not work on the front, category or archive pages of many themes, though with some themes that is how the email subscribers will view your posts.
