Posting Main Page as a Link
-
I am trying to post my blog to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. However, when I copy the URL link of my main HOME page, the link that is posted is of a BLOG page that I have deleted. It seems like the Blog page is set to some sort of default setting and I can’t change it. The photo and link that appears is not of my home page (which I want it to be), it is of the Blog page. I am not sure how to fix this issue. Any insight would be very helpful and much appreciated. Thank you!

This is your home page URL https://lifeinlipstickbykait.wordpress.com/
And, this is a one or the other situation. You have two choices on any blog
(1) All posts on the front page.
(2) A static front page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and all posts on a different page.By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors, who come to read your latest post, and who are not likely to be happy with being compelled to click through the same static page with the same blah, blah, blah on it every time they visit the blog looking for the latest post.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. Create your pages first
Front page:
Posts page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/After you do that you go to > Dashboard > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/A static page (select below)
Front page:
Posts page: -
Thanks for posting. I do like the default page being the Posts page. When you click the “home” button on my blog, it takes you to the “posts page”, which is also the page that you are initially taken to when you type my blog into the search bar (lifeinlipstickbykait.wordpress.com). I like this and I want to keep the opening home the posts page.
What my issue is, is that when I post my home page URL to Facebook or any other social media platform in order to share it, it changes to wanting to post a different page – the “blog” page (which I deleted so I’m not sure why it wants to post that), as opposed to the main “home” page with all of the backwards chronological posts on it (the page that I want to be linked).
I want my main “home” page to be the image and link that is posted to social media. but, although I copy and paste the URL from the Home page that I want, when it posts to social media, the link that appears is the “blog” page not the “home page”.
it is a different photo that is attached to the posted URL, and a different Title (saying “blog” instead of “home”) if this makes any sense.
There is also a line attached to the link and image that literally says “this is an excerpt that you can add to your blog”. I want to get rid of that because it makes my blog incomplete. I know that there is a spot where you can delete this and add an excerpt- so I uncovered my “blog” page from the trash, deleted that default “excerpt” line and then re deleted the blog page. but the excerpt example caption still shows up when I post the link.
Im not sure if this is making any sense, but I just want to be able to copy the URL of my home page with all of my chronological posts on it, and have that image and caption posted/attached along with the chosen URL to social media – as opposed to it wanting to switch to the “blog” page.
Please let me know if you can help!

Hi there,
When you post a link to social media, the image that displays depends on what image appears at that link. For individual posts and pages it should use the featured image, if no featured image then another image in the post, and as a fallback it uses your site’s blavatar, provided the image you uploaded as blavatar is big enough. You can find more information on that here:
The reason the preview showed Blog and that description is because you must have shared a link to your site on Facebook before you had given your site a title and tagline. Facebook stores that information so it doesn’t have to fetch it the next time you share a link.
I’ve run your site’s URL through the facebook debugger as explained on the page I linked to above, and it’s now showing the correct information.
