Posting my link on facebook – choosing the image which appears on the thumbnail

  Hi, I’ve Posted the link to my latest blog post on facebook and one of the images comes up as the ‘front cover’ so to speak. Last time I did this I was lucky and the pic which I liked the most shoed up automatically on my facebook post. Great. This time however the image that appears automatically on the thumbnail is inappropriate and I want to choose another of the pics which is in the body of the blog post. How to I choose the image which appears? I tried setting the featured image as I would have thought that the featured image would be the image that would appear with the thumbnail whenever I post a link. This has not happened so I am now at a loss. Especially as I have deleted the inappropriate image (it was appropriate in the located I had placed it but is not appropriate as a cover for the whole post) from the body of the blog post but it still keeps appearing on the thumbnail when I post the link. Please help!
