Posting New Blog

I first joined WP a long time ago, and back then the new post editor was simple, easy to use, and I could do exactly what I wanted to do with it all the time. Then you started forcing us to use new ones, and I’ve always complained silently but always got used to using them. But now I just can’t. All I want to do is insert an image, aligned left, into my article, but getting to do that, so far, has been a headache and all of the steps I’ve been taking just to try and FIND how to do it have been completely unnecessary. Why is it like this? Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with all of the additions to what I can do to my posts and pages, and I actually kind of like the current editor, but this is ridiculous. Something that used to be so simple is now impossible. I’m putting this piece, that I’ve been thinking about for a year, on hold, just because I can’t put an image where I want it. No, I don’t want to know how to do it. Like always, I’ll figure it out. What I do want to know is, why can’t WE get to pick what editor to use? Because I’d switch it back to the original one I first used and never change.

Hi there! Thanks for letting us know your frustrations.

It sounds like the Media + Text Block is what you’re looking for:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/media-text-block/

Or, if you want to wrap your text around an image, using the image block and aligning it left should work for you. Can you confirm that you’re adding the image and adjusting the alignment to left as indicated here?

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor-for-writers-bloggers/#place-an-image-and-text-side-by-side-text-wrapping

If that is what you’re doing, could you link us to that draft post so we can take a closer look and see what might be the issue here? Thanks!

Given enough time I would’ve figured it out probably, but thank you. It worked. So, about my actual question, why are there constant updates to how things work when they work just fine the way they were? I never understood why websites update things and just make them worse when things were good before. Like, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, ya know? Facebook is the worst for that.

Yeah, I didn’t think I’d get an answer to that. Facebook won’t answer me, either. I’ll never know.
