Posting of ads & affiliate links

  I am a beginner in blogging & also new to wordpress. I have read a lot of articles of wordpress for getting started, etc. But now my concern is alongwith writing blogs, in my account I also want to earn, so I am not clear about whether I can post some ads and affiliate links on my wordpress or not. So I wanted help from your side, can you explain it in detail. I have gone through the article that explains about selling plugins, but I cannot do that, as I am still new to wordpress I dont know about those plugings. Pls. give a detailed useful & analyised reply to me. I would be grateful for that.

  Thanks for reaching out with those questions. I’m going to address first the ads, then the affiliate links and the plugins matter at last.

  Advertising on WordPress.com
  You can’t have Adsense or any other form of advertising on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.
  The alternatives you’ve got are the following:

  • Be featured into the WordAds program that includes high traffic blogs that qualify for the program;
  • Get a VIP WordPress.com account
  • Manage your own hosted WordPress installation with WordPress.ORG, which gives you much liberty in advertising. Here’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

  Affiliate Links
  Affiliate links are generally allowed here on WordPress.com, as long as they’re promoted on pages that feature original content.

  There are some restrictions you have to bear in mind whilst using affiliation links:

  • Promoting affiliate links through comments or the support forums is considered spam. Such activity is a violation of our Terms of Service

  • Affiliate links for gambling, get-rich-quick schemes, multi-level marketing programs, disreputable merchants, or pornography are prohibited.
  • WordPress.com don’t allow banner advertising or the use of advertising networks. If you’re interested in making money from advertising, check out our WordAds program.

  Plugins
  Plugins can’t be used here on WordPress.com for safety reason. However, whenever you want to promote any plugins through your blog (also using affiliate links), you’re free to do that as long as you respect the Terms of Service.
