Posting on separate pages
-
Within one blog I have created several pages. Then I posted twice, noticed that these posts went to one single page – not the one i wanted. So i deleted that page. Now the posts are gone too. They are in the archives but i cannot call them up in the menu.
I want to be able to tell post 1 to go to page 5 and post 2 to page 4. How do I do this?
Have been trying for a good two hours now to fix this. Please help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

(1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page but doing that does not change what follows.
Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menusWe can also add other items into a custom menu like static Pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages but as I said above no static Pages will ever automatically update.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

Thank you for the quick and detailed reply!!! I will start working through all that info asap.
Too bad we can’t post on different pages. Why on earth can we not?! Is that too difficult to set up for WordPress? If not I would put it in the suggestions topic…
Thanks again!!

Static pages sit outside the blog structure. Static pages do not automatically update. Static pages do not have RSS Feeds … and are not attractive to search engines. I could go on and on. lol :D
Better Blogging at WordPress.com: Pages and PostsBottom line you need to create categories and assign them to posts because dynamic categories pages which you can include in the custom menu will automatically update.

Yes, now it all makes sense. I just created category pages and that is exactly what I was looking for! And it’s easy with categories instead of telling posts to go to certain pages – which isn’t possible. haha :D
Thank you!!! :D All those links really helped!
